Microsoft's Viva Learning is a new central hub for learning that consolidates learning from multiple content libraries and platforms where users can discover, share, assign and learn. It will be accessible from within Microsoft Teams, allowing a seamless integration within your organisation. Think of it like Apple or Google TV, bringing together shows and movies from all big streaming companies and putting them in one location.
This doesn't seem like a giant feat of technology for the user, it's just a new tab in Microsoft Teams, but they would be mistaken. It can change the way they engage with learning and development in the workplace entirely.

This new tab lets you source learning courses and assign them using the same great management tools as files in Microsoft Teams. It allows you to share the content with specific people or in a team channel or group. Through the flexibility of Teams, managers can set up a project team and then assign the required and/or optional learning in that team group, making it easier and more natural to distribute and access learning in the context of broader projects, encouraging just-in-time learning.
Leaders can also create individual assignments with an accompanying note to individual users. This allows leaders to quickly source the relevant training and notify their team members accordingly. One of the most common requests from employees is career development. Providing courses directly through Viva Learning in an already widely used communication tool will also help to ensure that the learning materials your own L&D teams create (or that we can help create for you!) see much wider use and adoption.
The TL;DR version is: Viva Learning brings together communication, knowledge, learning, resources, and insights within Microsoft Teams by integrating a catalogue of digital curated learning simplifying the learning experience.

So what does Viva mean for you?
Viva Learning can provide an awesome new learning hub that's a dream to access directly from Microsoft Teams if you're a team leader or an employee. It will let you search for the knowledge you need, engage it freely, and participate in courses assigned to you.
If you're an L&D professional, it will ensure greater access to your learning materials and let you bring in other sources of learning to your company. Viva Learning is currently partnered with Skillsoft, Coursera, Pluralsight, EdX, Cornerstone, SAP SuccessFactors, LinkedIn Learning, and more importantly your own LMS, giving your business plenty of options to expand its learning and development lifecycle.
